Class of ’64 Scholarship Awards Two More Students

The Class of 1964 Memorial Scholarship, established at our 50th reunion to honor classmates we’ve lost, continues to make a real difference for Riverdale seniors heading off to college. This year, two more students received awards:

This Year’s Recipients

  • Maya Chen — heading to State University to study biomedical engineering
  • Marcus Johnson — pursuing music education at the State Conservatory

Both students wrote moving thank-you letters to the class. Maya noted that her scholarship covers nearly her entire first-year tuition: “I want you to know that this isn’t just money to me. It’s the difference between worrying about loans and being able to focus on becoming the engineer I want to be.”

The scholarship has now supported 17 Riverdale graduates since its founding. If you’d like to contribute to next year’s awards, please reach out to the committee for details.
